Finding contentment

I started this post in 2012. Did not think to complete it until tonight. Had to make quite a few changes. Ironic how much can change in 3 years.

Contentment to me is...

A conversation with a total stranger that makes you feel like you have found a kindred soul in the midst of a chaotic existence...

Finding you can have a conversation with a friend by saying absolutely nothing at all...

Meeting an old friend after years and finding that except your age, nothing has changed!...

Listening to your favourite music and feeling at utter and complete peace with yourself and the world around you...

Finding an unexpected shoulder to lean on when the world seems a cruel place to be...a kind word, a reassuring pat...

Learning that love does not have to be an all consuming inferno, but a warm glowing ember...

Realising that life lessons from years ago, make you stronger, and more resilient, even though they felt like sharp shards of glass through your soul at the time. It is just a matter of perspective...

Singing along to the song on the radio. Not humming. World out. Full powered Beyonce mode on. Brownie points if you shake what your mama gave you...

Accepting that not everything is meant for you. Some things you learn, some you earn, and still others, you learn to let go for the sole reason that it was never yours to begin with...

Creating lasting friendships, relationships and dreams are just a matter of holding on. The mistake we make is in letting go as soon as the winds of change blow. This teaches what is important and what is not...

Laughter that makes your belly ache. For at that single moment, all is right with the world...

Having the love of a dog. Unconditional. Trusting, Deep. Unwavering. Perfect...

Feeling the music cleanse your soul from the dregs of the daily grind...

Knowing that even if few oceans and time zones separate you, family is just a phone call away...

Rainy day. Good book/movie. Hot mocha. Bliss...

Conversations that make you smile...

Bearhugs...

Coffee...

Life's simplicities...

Good friends...

Good food...

And not necessarily in that order.
